Applies worldwide โ€” every country, one policy

Your statuses stay yours.
We just help you save them.

Status Vault is a simple WhatsApp status saver. This page explains, in plain language, what we do and don't collect, how the app's ads work, and the rights you have wherever in the world you're reading this from.

1. About Status Vault

Status Vault is a utility app that lets you view and save WhatsApp statuses (photos, videos and text updates) that your contacts have already shared with you, so you can keep a copy on your own phone. This policy tells you what happens to your information when you use the app, no matter which country you're in.

Status Vault is an independent app and is not owned, operated, or endorsed by WhatsApp Inc. or Meta Platforms, Inc. "WhatsApp" is a trademark of its respective owner, used here only to describe compatibility.

2. No Accounts, No Login

You can use every feature of Status Vault without creating an account, signing in, or giving us your name, phone number, or email address. We never ask you to log in with WhatsApp, Google, Facebook, or any other service.

3. Information We Collect

Because there's no account, we collect very little. What we do handle falls into these categories:

  • Status files you choose to save: To show and save statuses, the app reads the status folder WhatsApp already stores on your device and, with your permission, copies files you pick into your own gallery or app folder. These files stay on your device โ€” we don't upload them to our servers.
  • Device permissions: Storage / media access (to read and save statuses) and, on newer Android versions, notification access if you enable optional alerts. You can revoke any permission at any time in your phone's settings.
  • Basic technical data: Standard app-store and crash-diagnostic information (device model, OS version, app version, crash logs) used only to keep the app stable.
  • Advertising identifiers: A device advertising ID (such as Android's Advertising ID) is used by our ad partners to show and measure ads, as described in Section 5.
We do not collect the content of your chats, contacts, call logs, or any WhatsApp account credentials. We simply cannot access those โ€” they aren't exposed to third-party apps by WhatsApp.

4. How We Use Information

  • To let you view and save statuses inside the app.
  • To keep the app running smoothly and fix crashes or bugs.
  • To display and measure the performance of ads that keep the app free.
  • To comply with legal obligations where applicable.

We do not use your information for anything beyond what's needed to run and support the app.

5. Advertising in the App

Status Vault is free to use and is supported by advertising instead of subscription fees or hidden charges. We show three types of ads:

Banner ads Interstitial (full-screen) ads Rewarded ads

These ads are served through third-party advertising networks (for example, Google AdMob and similar partners). To choose relevant ads and measure how they perform, these networks may automatically collect information such as your advertising ID, approximate location (derived from IP address), device type, and ad interaction data. This works the same way for every country โ€” the specific data used can vary slightly based on your region's privacy laws.

Rewarded ads are optional: you choose to watch one in exchange for an in-app benefit, and skipping them never blocks the app's core save-and-view functionality.

Ad networks operate under their own privacy policies. You can usually limit ad personalization from your device settings (e.g. "Opt out of Ads Personalization" on Android, or "Limit Ad Tracking" on iOS).

6. WhatsApp & Third Parties

Status Vault reads status files from the public folder WhatsApp saves them in on your device. We have no partnership, data-sharing agreement, or technical integration with WhatsApp or Meta. Any statuses you save are files already delivered to your phone by WhatsApp itself, in line with WhatsApp's own status-sharing feature.

Please respect the privacy of others: only save and share statuses with the consent of the person who posted them, and follow WhatsApp's own terms of use.

7. Data Sharing & Sale

We do not sell your personal information, to anyone, ever. The only sharing that happens is the minimum technical exchange required for our advertising partners to serve ads (Section 5) and, if needed, with service providers who help us run analytics or crash reporting โ€” all bound to use data solely to provide that service.

We may disclose limited information if required by law, to protect our legal rights, or to prevent fraud or abuse of the app.

8. Children's Privacy

Status Vault is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your country's law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, contact us and we'll address it promptly.

9. International Users

Status Vault is available worldwide, and this single policy is written to apply everywhere. Depending on where you live, additional protections apply on top of everything above:

  • European Economic Area / UK (GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (including ad personalization).
  • California, USA (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what information is collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale or sharing" of personal information โ€” which, if your device treats ad-ID sharing as a "sale," you can limit through your device's ad-personalization settings.
  • Brazil (LGPD), India (DPDP Act) and other jurisdictions: we apply the same core principles โ€” minimal collection, no forced accounts, and a way to contact us with any request โ€” regardless of specific local statute.

Because ad networks may process data on servers located in different countries, some information may be transferred internationally. Our ad partners maintain their own safeguards for these transfers under their respective policies.

10. Data Security & Retention

Statuses you save stay in local storage on your own device โ€” we never see or store copies of them on our servers. Technical/diagnostic data we do receive is kept only as long as needed for stability monitoring and ad delivery, then routinely deleted or aggregated so it can no longer identify a specific device.

11. Your Rights & Choices

  • Turn off storage permission any time โ€” the app will simply be unable to read or save statuses.
  • Opt out of personalized ads from your device's OS-level ad settings.
  • Uninstalling the app removes any local app data instantly; there's no server-side account to also delete, since none was ever created.
  • Contact us (Section 13) for any question about your data, wherever you're located.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or in the law. The "Effective" date at the top of this page always shows the latest revision. Continuing to use Status Vault after an update means you accept the revised policy.
